Labor Day Weekend

This last weekend was Kevin's four-day weekend. We've had every single four-day weekend booked since like June, and so this weekend we decided to keep things simple. Although we would've loved to go camping again, we decided it wasn't in our budget. It worked out great though, because we were actually able to hang out with quite a few friends, and spend time together as well. Friday Kevin got off work and slept for a few hours. Then he surprised me by asking my mom to watch the boys and taking me out for some Japanese food (to our favorite restaurant), which was delicious. We also rented a movie (which we haven't done in forever!), and enjoyed hanging out.

Saturday we spent the whole day at his partner's house, and while Kevin helped Jeremy with some plumbing problems, Megan and I were able to talk and hang out with the kids. It was so nice to be able to relax and talk with her! She's such a beautiful pregnant momma!! She's got a little less than a month left to go before she welcomes their first boy into the family! Hopefully being around my two will give her some kind of preview! ;) Ha ha.. We ate lunch and dinner over there, swam a bit, and had a great time.

Sunday we went to church, and then took off to Old Sacramento. Kevin thought it'd be fun to go there, and then looked online and found out they were having all kinds of things going on there that day. They had like 200 tons of dirt brought in and covered all the downtown streets with it to look like dirt roads. They shot off canons, put on old western shows, had horses and buggies all over (more than usual), and were giving train rides. It was a blast. The kids loved the train ride (although it was a warm ride-- Tyler's face was pink the whole time, as you can see in the pictures!), and Elijah loved the canon shooting-- Tyler was terrified. :( We heard live music, and had so much fun together.

Monday afternoon we went to the Williams' house for lunch to visit with Katie and Kevan while they were in town. Her belly is getting soooo cute! She's 24 weeks now, so it's not very big, but just seeing her start to show is so adorable. We really enjoyed getting to spend a few hours with them, and Katie's family, and it made me really miss them not living closer... Monday evening Mark, Steph and Nora came over for dinner and we got to play outside, do a lot of dancing in the living room (EVERYONE was included in this, lol!), and Tyler got his first BIG owie. He's had plenty to date (his forehead is RARELY seen without a big bruise on it), but this one takes the cake. When we were in Sac he had a good fall on a tile floor, and bruised his forehead pretty good. Then at the Williams' he walked right on front of a kid playing Wii, and got the Wii remote right in the forehead (on top of the bruise). Then Monday night he fell off the kids' picnic table they were eating dinner on, and fell straight back off the seat-- hitting the back of his head on the concrete (made me almost lose my appetite!). THEN (yes, I'm not even to the BIG one yet!) while Steph and I were cleaning up dishes, he tripped on the concrete and somehow busted his head open RIGHT next to his already big bruise. Blood was pouring down his face, and I did what probably no mom's do at this point-- I grabbed the camera for a quick shot, lol. Seriously-- by this point it was just getting ridiculous! All kids came inside after that-- I couldn't bare anyone else getting hurt! We took him to the bathroom to clean him up, and noticed it actually was pretty deep, but not too wide. Kevin put a butterfly band aid on it, and one regular one across to catch the blood. He's been doing fine- not acting unusual... Kevin's told me that one year he took 6 trips to the ER because of major injuries... I'm seeing a pattern here!!! Elijah's my cautious, afraid-to-try-anything-new kid, and Tyler just doesn't care. He has no fear. He'll try anything just about- and if brother's doing it then it MUST be safe! Please keep him in your prayers- one of these days I'll be dealing with broken limbs, not blood or bruises!!!

Couldn't he be their spokesmodel!?!? ;)
We had to shave part of his hair so the band aid would stick, lol
Obviously he was well enough to dance afterwards ;)

Way too funny! Although, I think my favorite part of the video might be of the dads dancing! LOL
